DESCRIPCIÓN

The Menendez Pelayo International University Medal of Honour was created in 1983 by the sculptor Julio Lopez Hernandez. It is a beautiful table top bronze sculpture measuring 15 by 14 cm.

Each medal is an original of a multiple edition made in the sculptor’s studio.

The medal depicts the relief of a woman with a poetry book in her hands and her reflection shown in a mirror.

The figure is encircled by the words of Mr Pedro Salinas, former General Secretary of the University: “The shadows we forge in this immense bed of distances.”

The reverse of the sculpture bears the name Menéndez Pelayo International University and a sunken relief of La Magdalena Palace and the Collegiate os Santillana del Mar.
